Allow us, if you will, a geeky analogy: Words With Friends is like the well vodka of gaming.
It gets the job done, but it ain't pretty.
Allow us to introduce the 18-year-old single malt version of Scrabble.
Some background: Designer Andrew Capener cooked up a Scrabble Typography Edition concept a few years back that was so impressive that Hasbro helped put it into production with exclusive high-end licensee Winning Solutions.
That, naturally, sold out right-quick. So now they just released the brand-new 2nd edition that's even sexier-looking than the original, with 15 new fonts on each of the maple tiles and a minimally outlined walnut board.
It also comes with a stitched rule book and a scorekeeping journal — put away your new plastic iPhone for the duration of this game, man — along with a built-in lazy susan, so you can swivel the board over when your turn comes.
Just remember: "Zax" is totally a word, no matter what that other guy says.
