LG's new OLED HDTV throws a curve into television design

Full_curvedoled

Feel free to start calling this TV the girlfriend of your dreams. She's thin, curvy, and won't judge you for sitting on the couch in your boxers, eating cold pizza, and watching SportsCenter reruns.

Her real name? LG's Curved OLED TV. We bragged about her earlier this year at CES, and now she's here —  not in by-appointment-only showrooms but in Best Buy, of all places.

That's not to say it's gone mass market. The 55-inch class (54.6-inch diagonal) TV, whose curves promise a viewing experience similar to IMAX, will run you a cool $15,000.

Clocking in at only 0.17 inches thin and barely 38 pounds, it's one of the slenderest TVs on the market, and its four-color pixel tech provides mind-blowing picture quality.

You can currently scope them out at select Best Buy stores in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, and San Antonio, with a nationwide rollout happening later this summer.

If you're not yet ready to spend your firstborn's freshman year tuition on a piece of high-tech glass, there's always the Netflix-on-your-laptop option. (Or better yet, the Google Chromecast.)

But then again, children can be overrated.
