Candy corn: stockpiled. Witty, culturally relevant costume: prepped. Fog machine: fully functional.
Plans for a truly epic Halloween on the town: still up in the air.
Whether you go out tonight or on All Hallow's Eve, we've lined up the city's top Halloweek events — because planning a great night out shouldn’t be the scariest part of your holiday. (You can probably just leave the fog machine at home.)
MONSTER'S BALL AT YOSHI'S
It’s never too early to get into the spirit, so start your Halloweek off tonight at Yoshi's costume bash. The theme is “Vixens, Heroes & Villains,” presumably because you can only take so much Batman and Bane without a little Catwoman thrown in for good measure.
Tonight 10p. Yoshi's, 1330 Fillmore St, The Fillmore. $25 and up here.
SUICIDE GIRLS BLACKHEART BURLESQUE AT THE FILLMORE
If you want cut out the heroes and villains, there are sure to be vixens a-plenty at this steamy burlesque show. Consider this your "treat" for the holiday, with Beyoncé-caliber choreography and playful eroticism.
Tonight 9p. The Fillmore, 1805 Geary St, The Fillmore. $35 here.
HALLOWEEN HOEDOWN AT THE PARLOR
Daisy Dukes. Decorative belt buckles. Flannel galore. No, this isn’t the Elbo Room on a Thursday night. This barnburner of a wild-west shindig showcases a mechanical bull as its centerpiece. Because The Parlor takes their hoedowns seriously.
Thu Oct 31 8p. The Parlor, 2801 Leavenworth, Fisherman’s Wharf. $15 and up here.
ZOMBIEWOOD HALLOWEEN PARTY
Clark Gable, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor — all your favorite undead Tinseltown luminaries will make an appearance at this eerie celebration of Hollywood’s golden years at The Clift’s Redwood Room, boasting a spin session by DJ Gunars. Bonus: 2013’s special effects are far, far superior to 1927’s.
Thu Oct 31 9p. Redwood Room, 495 Geary Street, Union Square. Call (415-929-2372) to RSVP.
