The James Beard award is not something they gave that traitor Brian Wilson for growing luxurious facial hair.
It's kind of like the World Series he won, except that it's given for creating food — life-changing, soul-liberating plates of food.
So anything with this culinary icon's name on it, we want in. This Friday, the James Beard Foundation is hosting New American Classic at the St. Regis.
You’ll begin the evening with a cocktail. Maybe two. Anyway, no more than three. Then you’ll tuck into a menu crafted by the masterminds behind places like Mission Chinese, Rich Table, Flour + Water, SPQR, State Bird Provisions… you get the idea. More of SF cuisine’s heavy hitters than you can shake a garlic-roasted marrowbone at.
Each dish will pay homage to that chef’s favorite James Beard story, inspiration, or dish, so you’re basically eating a greatest hits compilation of his life and work.
Afterward, taste desserts from the pastry chefs of Boulevard, San Francisco Cooking School, and the St. Regis during the official Sweet & Savory Indulgences afterparty.
And please — snack responsibly.
