We've always liked the name Bethany.
It sounds girl-next-door but with secrets behind that door. Vintage with hints of glam. Too bad Bethanies don't roll deep in the Bay Area (maybe we could trade some of our Jennas).
Good news: a real-life Bethany is coming to the Fillmore. And she wears vintage graphic tees while dropping a breezy strain of SoCal garage rock.
Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno — better known as Best Coast — bring their distinctive brand of lo-fi surf pop to The Fillmore on Thursday, August 15th.
You know the duo from their sun-drenched summer 2010 debut, Crazy for You. Full of Breeders-worthy guitar riffs, instantly hummable melodies, and Bethany's lovelorn vocals, the album spawned a Drew Barrymore-directed music video.
Subsequent tours found the band supporting everyone from The Decemberists and Belle & Sebastian to Green Day and No Doubt. Not to mention scads of critical acclaim.
And now, you can see them in a more intimate setting than a stadium. (In other words, secure your tickets now.)
Keep your eyes peeled for girl-next-door types in vintage tees. There's gotta be another Bethany around here somewhere.
