Go Sour

Sip summer suds at St. Vincent tomorrow


Down South, the LA Dodgers are topping their beers in frozen foam, the closest thing to a Beer Frosty.

Thirsty for something fizzy, foamy, and beer-colored yet?

The solution: Summer Sour Saturday at St. Vincent's. 

Stop by between noon and 3p tomorrow to celebrate the release of the only-at-St.-Vincent Sumac Summer Ale from Craftsman Brewing Company.

The Mission tavern and wine merchant's cicerone helped develop this Belgian-style wheat beer with the aim of creating a seasonal brew as refreshing as it is flavorful. No, it won't come out of a converted margarita machine, but it holds its own alongside the other wheat beers being served in the four-beer tasting flight, including Ale Industries' complex East Bayliner Weisse, a tart, Berlin-style sour aged in oak barrels.

Sound complicated? Only as much as you want it to be.

Because at the end of the day — or in this case the middle — ice cold beer is just as delicious whether you're a connoisseur or simply looking for a $12 buzz.

Or brain freeze.
