Game On

Golden Gate Tap Room brings foosball and craft beer to Union Square

Imagine a world where Chuck E. Cheese is not a giant cartoon rodent, but a real boy.

No, a man.

A man who owns a ginormous game hall in the middle of the city. One where you can cheer on Buster Posey while knocking back an Anchor Steam. Or seven.

Welcome to Golden Gate Tap Room, now (softly) unleashing 8,000 square feet of games, more than 100 beers, and 20 flatscreens worth of sports just blocks from Union Square.

Grab your big boy pants and and a valid form of ID. Both are required at the Barbary Coast's newest adult game hall, which comes decked out in wall-to-wall wood with burgundy leather banquettes and barstools.

Speaking of the bar, that should be your first stop. Prepare to spend a while perusing the beer list. You have some tough decisons to make. Racer 5 on draft or Raging Bitch by the bottle? Or should you just go all class and grab a Miller High Life? (The answer: all of the above are solid choices, although High Life is best ordered when the guy next to you is a mulleted tourist who is doing the same.)

With your thirst quenched, it's time to compete. Choose from classic arcade games, skeeball, shuffleboard... and ermahgerd fersberll!

Unlike your seventh birthday party, you won't be playing for tickets to earn prizes. Which is fine because you've totally matured past that.

As the Instagram of the aforementioned mulletted tourist clearly proves.
