Live and Let Dye

These colors do, in fact, run

Full_runordye

In a city like San Francisco, you’re bound to meet some colorful characters (We’re looking at you, Dolores Park).

But unless you’re willing to engage the Truffle Man in an honest-to-goodness dialogue, few experiences are likely to be as colorful as the Run or Dye race coming to Candlestick Park on Saturday, July 6.

The event is a standard 5K (that’s 3.1 miles in American), except every now and then you and your teammates will be blasted from head to toe with multi-colored dye.

So yes, far, far superior to a standard 5K.

Here’s how it works: You alert your favorite running buddies. You secure your tickets. Then, come July 6th, you don your craziest outfit and get ready for things to get messy.

(Pro tip: This will be Independence Day weekend, after all, so if you incorporate some white into your look, chances are pretty good that the red and blue will take care of themselves.)

Throughout the race, specially designated “dye stations” allow you to be professionally splattered by members of the race crew.

We hear the training for that was awfully rigorous.
