Holy Grail

Snacks from top Bay Area chefs paired with a neverending glass of wine

Grab a hat and slather on your sunscreen. And call that limo guy your friend swears by.

You're heading to Napa next weekend for HALL Wines' 4th Annual Cabernet Cookoff, a buffet-style outdoor smorgasborg where snack-sized dishes from acclaimed Bay Area restaurants (including Solbar and Meadowood) are paired with neverending glasses of HALL's 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

But while the wine never stops flowing, there is a finite number of seats at communal picnic tables. So arrive early to stake out your space, then divide and conquer as you vote for your favorite dishes.

No, the goal is not to buy the winning chef a new Prius. The winner of this year's cab crown will donate the prize to charity.

When the Cookoff winds down, stay for one more drink in their tasting room and explore the winery's luxe interior. Or linger outside at one of their communal tables to savor that Napa sun for just a bit longer.

Good thing you called that limo guy.
