Men's Insider Guide

San Francisco gets crazy this time of the year. Which is why we've teamed up with Nordstrom to help you do it right. Here's the inside tip on SF's hottest holiday activities, paired up with the latest style picks from Nordstrom Men's Shop, so you can put together the perfect look for all your holiday plans.

NYE Luxe: New Year's Eve at Twenty Five Lusk

Ring in the New Year with champagne and caviar at SF's most stylish restaurant and lounge.

Two options: Choose from two dinner seatings, or head down to the lounge for cover-free cocktails and live music.

Nordstrom's Men's Shop makes it easy: Upgrade your everyday tweed for a chic velvet blazer. Pair it with black pants for a combo that's so much cooler than a suit. Get it here.

Dec 31 5p. 25 Lusk St., South Beach (415-495-5875). Dinner $105-145 by reservation. Lounge admission free.

Nearby: District; Ironside; Tres

Worth the Drive: Weaver's Winter Wonderland in Rohnert Park

We're not sure what the genie from Aladdin has to do with Christmas, but any holiday light display handcrafted by the guy behind that trippy toothpick sculpture of SF is worth seeing in our book.

Park and walk: The neighbors have gotten in on the fun and are also showcasing Scott Weaver's handmade decorations. So bundle up and take your time.

Nordstrom's Men's Shop makes it easy: A shawl collar sweater and comfortable cords will take you from your holiday light tour to a wine country dinner afterwards. After all, you're already in the North Bay. Get it here.

Through Dec 31. 190 Cielo Cr., Rohnert Park.

Nearby: Hopmonk Tavern; The Barlow; Glen Ellen Star

Because You're Man Enough: San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker

Score Santa points with your other half (or adorable niece) by surprising her with tickets to this classic holiday performance.

Getting through it: We like to think of the ballet as costumed athletes doing their thing on an elaborate set. Kind of like the Olympics, but with Tchaikovsky.

Nordstrom's Men's Shop makes it easy: Look the part of the classy patron of the arts in well-cut separates from Etro. This paisley blazer adds polish to comfortable corduroys, while a classic white shirt ties it all together. Get it here.

Dec 7-28. War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness Ave., Civic Center (415-552-8338). From $20 here.

Holidate: Embarcadero Ice Rink
It’s official. The Embarcadero Ice Rink is now open. Which means two things: coming up with date ideas just got a lot easier, and you are about to have a sore bum.
No skates required: If, like most self-respecting dudes, you do not own a pair of ice skates, they’re available for rent for $3.50.

Nordstrom Men's Shop makes it easy: Pair this not-your-Dad's-Christmas sweater from Nudie with a Pendleton plaid shirt and J Brand jeans to stay warm and toasty while you're on the ice. Get it here.
Through Jan 6. Justin Herman Plaza, adjacent to Four Embarcadero Center and across from the historic Ferry Building. $9.50-10 Nearby: Blanc et Rouge; Osha Thai; La Mar

Down with Dungeness: Waterbar’s Crab Salad
Skip the heavy stuff in favor of the moist and buttery Dungeness crab salad freshly added to Waterbar’s menu just in time for the commercial season.
What’s in it: Two succulent ounces of fresh crabmeat atop mache (aka fancy lettuce), zucchini, and borage flowers.

Nordstrom Men's Shop makes it easy: A Zachary Brell plaid sport shirt with a contrasting tie from Gitman adds a little edge to this Brooks Brothers argyle vest. Get it here.
Through the season. 399 The Embarcadero South, SoMa (415-284-9922). Nearby: Prospect; Rosa Mexicano; Americano
