Rock Out

Sound Off! assembles the hottest unsigned acts in town for one night only

Seattle's bench is deep with amazing unsigned bands, but how do you know which ones are worth your time?

Since 2001, Sound Off! at the EMP Museum has been finding the best of the best in young talent and having them show their chops on the big stage.

Past winners include local rap hero Dyme Def, Anacortes indie-rockers The Lonely Forest, and horror punkers Schoolyard Heroes.

This year's lineup has been through three grueling semifinal rounds, and Saturday's final showdown will bring just one to the top.

Competitors are a diverse bunch: synth-pop band Laser Fox, garage-rockers Thee Samedi, soulful indies Fauna Shade, and preternaturally gifted poet-songwriter Otieno Terry. Based on the strength of their past showings, it's anybody's ballgame.

The winner takes home a prize package designed to take their career to the next level — recording time, audio gear, even radio airplay.

If you want to say you knew them when, the first stop is this Saturday.
