Don't Eat the Bones

Bourbon & Bones is Fremont's new spot for BBQ and bird

Like nutella, curly fries, and pretty much anything with cheese in it, fried chicken is just one of those foods.

Once the craving hits, the craving must be satisfied.

Chef Mike Law gets that, which is why he just opened the doors on Bourbon & Bones, his new Fremont BBQ joint with an instant classic: the Carolina-style bird, marinated overnight and perfectly fried to crisp, tender amazingness.

Craving red meat? Don't worry, their custom-built smoker is also in action, producing flavorful brisket and tender ribs paired with a vinegary sauce.

Really have guts? The bourbon-soaked chicken gizzards are disturbingly addictive.

There's no pretense here. You pay for your meat by the pound or by the bucket, and sides come steaming from a hot table. The smothered greens are smoky and savory, and the house-pickled beets are great contrast.

He even brews his own hot sauce, that's how serious this dude is about his 'cue.

Cocktails? Of course. As you'd expect from the name, bourbon is the star here, and you can get it straight (including the ultra-prized Pappy Van Winkle) or mixed. Go for the Kentucky Mule, which pairs the brown stuff with lime, ginger beer and simple syrup.

Booze, barbecue and the best fried chicken. Got the craving yet?
