Octopus Bar is Wallingford's new nautical haunt

If you asked us to name one thing that's changing the face of Seattle right now, it's Kickstarter. The little crowdfunding website is making dreams come true left and right, and the latest is Wallingford's new Octopus Bar.

Nestled next to the Guild 45th, this former pizza parlor turned nautical-themed gastropub opened its doors last week.

All that crowdfunded cash went into creating an over-the-top nautical decor. Staggering attention to detail went into this place, with drift nets strewn with bulbs across the ceiling and reclaimed wood along the walls.

Like any nautically-themed bar worth its sea salt, the cocktails are on point. Octopus bucks the trend of fancy infusions and barrel-aging, keeping things simple and powerful. Case in potent point: Davy Jones' Locker, a top-flight Hornitos margarita with a splash of St. Germain elderflower liquor.

Pair it up with a flatbread pizza topped with lamb sausage, feta, and tzatziki. And try the nachos made with house-made pita chips.

The trio that opened the place want it to be a "neighborhood anchor," and chances are if you sail in, you won't want to leave until closing time.

Unfortunately, no cots below deck.
