Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em

Martino's takes lunch meat to the next level

Full_martinos-2

Meat: the more love you give it, the better it gets.

Phinney Ridge's new sandwich shop Martino's takes that philosophy and runs with it. All of the proteins here are house-smoked with care, and the proof is in the pork (and sirloin, and bacon, and chicken...).

The Santa Maria sandwich starts with slow-smoked tri-tip sirloin, served with chimichurri sauce and roasted poblano pepper salsa.

Pork fans have lots to love here, too. The Cuban is simply majestic, and the Big Italian (featuring generous cuts of garlic-and-herb-rubbed pork butt) might just make you swear off all other hoagies.

Sides are limited, but quality. Go for the grilled corn with seasoned butter, or the house smoked potato salad with bacon.

The kitchen, under the leadership of chef Chris Martino, dabbles in dinner, too, with ever-changing specials from a dynamite pot roast to verde smoked chicken tacos.

And here's a fun tidbit of Martino's trivia to share with your friends over a smoky meat sandwich: the 700 square-foot space was previously a vegan shoe store.

Oh, the irony.
