What Barnacle lacks in floorspace, it makes up in style

Full_barnacle

Here's a little animal trivia: the tiny barnacle is packing some serious heat down there

The barnacle has the longest relative male genitalia in the animal kingdom (eight times the length of its body).

So go ahead. Expect big things from the 769 square-foot Barnacle.

If you're lucky enough to snag one of the 19 seats at this dimunitive new aperitivo bar from Renee Erickson (The Walrus & The Carpenter), you're in for a treat.

Originally built to handle patrons who couldn't get seats at Walrus, Barnacle has a slightly different vibe. Instead of mixed cocktails, the bar focuses on sipping drinks: aperitifs and liqueurs sourced from all over the world. Amaro, an Italian herbal drink, is on offer in over 20 varietals from Europe and farther abroad. And yes, they make a killer Negroni.

Instead of fresh-shucked oysters, the menu is small plates (ordered from a constantly-changing chalkboard) including octopus terrine and shaved pork tongue.

Pro tip: Your average shaved pork tongue might not be eight times the length of its body, but it might be 48 times the better conversation-starter. Keep that barnacle thing between us.
