A few weeks ago, an application for a liquor license went up in the former C.S. Finnegan's space in Belltown.
The name on it? "Some Random Bar."
It seemed like a joke, but now the place is open, sporting the exact same name. And it's a damn fine watering hole.
The name is a reference to the fact that there's not one gimmick at play here.
The cocktail list is full of homemade infusions and fresh juices, but it's not a cocktail bar. You can watch the Mariners on a few TVs, but it's not a sports bar. And they serve awesome food, but it's not a gastropub.
It's just an awesome, casual place to get a drink and a snack without any BS.
The edibles are pretty slick — chocolate-dipped bacon is our favorite new guilty pleasure, and the twice-cooked oxtails are a time bomb of savory flavors. For drinks, they keep things close to home with local wines and microbrews, but you can get a PBR tallboy in a paper bag if you feel like slumming it.
"Some Slummy Bar" didn't quite have the same ring to it.
