Suds, No Duds

Ten days of foamy perfection start Thursday

Full_beer-week

This Thursday marks the kickoff of Seattle Beer Week, a ten-day celebration of the art of brewing (okay, and drinking). Here's the best of the best, day by glorious day.

Thursday, May 9
The week begins with a brewery crawl. Leave work, grab your stein and tap the first keg of 2013 Organic Session Pale before moving on to three other stops.
5:30p. Fremont Brewing, 3409 Woodland Park Ave. N., Fremont (206-420-2407)

Friday, May 10
Naked City Taphouse hosts a special nanobreweries night, letting you sample insanely small-batch beers made by hand, one barrel at a time.
Naked City, 8564 Greenwood Ave. N., Wallingford (206-838-6299)

Saturday, May 11
What do you do with all those empty cans? Take them to the Pine Box for the Can Derby. Build a racer at home or at the bar; the fastest down the track will win delicious drinkable prizes.
2p. The Pine Box, 1600 Melrose Ave., Capitol Hill (206-588-0375)

Sunday, May 12
A day of rest -- who's got time for that? Taylor Shellfish oysters for a buck a pop accompanied by ten Northwest beers vying to be named the perfect raw shellfish pairing.
2p. Wine World, 400 NE 45th, University District (206-402-6086)

Monday, May 13
After all the fuss has died down, stop by the Fremont Troll with a twelve-pack and enjoy a late-night beer with one of Seattle's most iconic public sculptures.
10p. Fremont Troll, N 36th St. & Troll Ave., Fremont

Tuesday, May 14
Head out on the water with Pyramid's brewmaster Kim Brusco for Boat With The Brewer, a kayak tour of Elliot Bay that ends with a brewery tour and a couple free beers to make up for all that exercise.
5:30p. Pyramid Brewery, 1201 First Ave. S., SoDo (206-682-3377)

Wednesday, May 15
Von Trapp's bocce courts host a brewer's tourney. Bet on the brackets to win prizes and support the brewers by sampling a draft from each.
5p. Von Trapp's, 912 12th Ave., Capitol Hill (206-325-5409)

Thursday, May 16
Get your mouth full of meat with Sausagefest at Dude Island. Artisanal fire-grilled specialty sausages paired with bold, flavorful strong ales make this a can't-miss.
4p. Duck Island Alehouse, 7317 Aurora Ave. N., Greenlake (206-783-3360)

Friday, May 17
Sam Adams Takeover at Special Brews sees the Lynnwood alehouse devoting all of their taps to the resurgent mega-microbrewer, even offering up drafts of their legendary Utopia aged ales.

Sunday, May 19
The festivities end at 1p with the traditional salmon bake at Pyramid, featuring huge slabs of freshly caught salmon prepared in Pacific Northwest style and paired with beer, games and good times.
