Deadwood Lives

E. Smith Mercantile is a retail time warp

Full_e-smith

Pioneer Square is blowing up right now, with new restaurants like Bar Sajor and shops like Rain Shadow Meats Squared lifting the formerly shady neighborhood to new heights.

And apparently, new time periods. The neighborhood now has a general store that looks straight out of Deadwood.

The brainchild of Jessie Poole, E. Smith Mercantile stocks everything you need for an urban expedition. Knives carved from deer antlers and high-end denim from Nashville-based Imogene + Willie headline the prime durable goods.

If you're rounding up a posse and heading out on the trail, stock up on provisions, including laser-cut crackers, Mast Brothers chocolate, and house-pickled vegetables.

Inspired by Poole's grandparents, who ran their own general store in the tiny town of Atlanta, Idaho, E. Smith aims to be a gathering place for the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. Which explains why there's a full bar serving cocktails (just like in the Old West).

We'll let you know if we hear of any horse rentals in the area.
