Attack the Block

Flaming Lips, Danny Brown, and dozens more hit Cap Hill

Sorry, Coachella Valley. A desert full of random bands from the '90s does not a music festival make.

New plan: rock locally at the annual Capitol Hill Block Party.

The headlining acts for the three-day orgy of music and mayhem have just been announced. Seattle neo-soul artists Pickwick, laptop madman Girl Talk, and alterna-psych legends The Flaming Lips are all confirmed.

Six separate stages mean that attendees have a bounty of choices (46 acts in all) to get down to — from New Orleans bounce favorite Big Freedia to Portland electronica STRFKR and Seattle popsters Hey Marseilles.

Of course, there's plenty of food and drink to be had including three separate beer gardens and dozens of the city's best food trucks and restaurants.

Tickets just went on sale. If you get them before Saturday (as in today), they're $75. After that, they go up to $95. And it won't be long before they're sold out entirely.

We'll see you there.

Capitol Hill Block Party
Friday-Sunday, July 26-28
