This Week

Two people living inside a giant hamster wheel for art is hardly the weirdest thing to happen in Brooklyn. Case in point: Christmas trees still litter the sidewalk in March.

  • Do Your Chores: The Wash House Open now
Drop off your dirty clothes in back, then sip wine, beer, or coffee in the front at this only-in-New York cafe/laundromat.
    44 E. 1st St. (2nd Ave.), East Village (310-367-2301)

  • Put It On My Taboon: Bustan Open now
The wood-fired taboon at this new Mediterranean spot (pictured) from two Barbounia vets turns out whole baked fish, grilled merguez, and ground lamb and tahini flatbreads.
487 Amsterdam Ave. (W. 83rd St.), Upper West Side (212-595-5050)

  • Tortilla Time: Calexico Open now
It took a couple years to finally make it happen, but you can now get Calexico's chipotle pork tacos, carne fries, and green-sauced burritos in Park Slope's former Blue Ribbon Sushi space.
    278 5th Ave. (1st St.), Park Slope (347-254-7644)

  • Goodbye, Tiki: General Assembly Open now
The old coconut-slinging Hurricane Club has been transformed into this Gatsby-looking American bar and brasserie with dry-aged burgers, rabbit Wellington, and roast chicken with mustard sauce.
360 Park Ave. South (26th St.), Flatiron (212-951-7111)

Isola doesn't believe in slimming down for summer, offering a week of pasta specials instead: spring pea agnolotti, squid ink spaghetti, saffron fusilli with spicy lobster bolognese, and even chocolate gnocchi for dessert.
9 Crosby St. (Grand St.), SoHo (212-389-0000)
