Long Live the Queen

Queen of the Night extends its run

Full_queenofthenight

It wasn't supposed to last.

Queen of the Night, a lavish and sexy dinner theater show cooked up by the people behind Sleep No More and held at the legendary mobster haunt The Diamond Horseshoe Club, was supposed to end its run after a mere month.

Now, it's here to stay for a while. Which means that even if you missed its New Year's Eve kickoff, you can now grab a ticket for this more-than-just-immersive experience and prepare to have your senses pleasured and your mind blown.

It's all loosely based on Mozart's The Magic Flute, in which a marchesa holds an over-the-top debutante ball for her daughter. And then things get weird.

There's a fiber-optic starry sky in the ceiling. There are intense conversations with strangers on the meaning of love. There are contortionists and aerialists and women with knives who may or may not give you a seductive dance in a secret back room.

There's a bar that looks like a Willy Wonka laboratory, with spirits flowing through a series of tubes and beakers and ultimately into your glass. There are lobsters in bird cages and suckling pigs on spits.

But we don't want to tell you much more than that. If we do, one of the cast members might abduct us — again.
