Growing up, the best part of cereal wasn't eating it — it was playing with it.
And the upcoming Museum of Food and Drink — aka MOFAD, aka the brainchild of kitchen science know-it-all and Booker & Dax owner Dave Arnold — is bringing back those salad days of your youth.
Except it's cereal, not salad. This Tuesday, MOFAD debuts its inaugural exhibition, “Boom! The Puffing Gun and the Rise of Breakfast Cereal,” at a special preview Puff Party.
We hate to name drop, but we can't not drop these names: Wylie Dufresne, Christina Tosi, and Anita Lo are just some of the crazy-talented chefs on the roster. And though this fundraising party ain't cheap (MOFAD's still in the development phase, guys), guests will feast on a short rib dinner courtesy of Momofuku Má Pêche and knock back high-tech cocktails by Booker & Dax.
But at the center of it all is quite possibly the most amazing thing you've ever seen: a whirling, 3,200-pound machine that explosively puffs cereal before your glazed-over pupils. Seriously, check out this thing in action.
We'll give you our puffing gun when you pry it from our cold, dead hands.
