The Fast and the Filthiest

Running Dirty drags you through the mud, and then some

At the end of August, the city clears out for one last sip of boozy beach weather before returning to the fall slog.

Not you. You'll be diving under barbed wire and through mud puddles at Running Dirty.

This new mud race simulates a NAVY SEAL training course and is absolutely not for casual thrill-seekers.

You will quite literally be put through hell — or, as the organizers call it, the Hell Mile. It's only one of four total miles, but it's a doozy: Expect the usual hay bales, rope walls, and tires, but be prepared for floating balance beams, hurdles of fire, and upside-down monkey bars.

Also mud. Did we mention the mud? There will be mud.

As for the location, Raceway Park is a mere 42 miles from the center of NYC — a perfect chance to see the beautiful, uh, countryside of New Jersey.

But more importantly, it's a motor sports park that's basically one giant mud pit, which means there's no way the stains are coming out.

Time to invest in a waterproof case for your phone.
