RES Stop

The Franks debut RES, an artist residency for chefs — plus barbecue

You know the Franks: Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli, the bearded duo behind Prime Meats and Frankies Spuntino.

Well, they just minted a new kind of eatery a few short blocks from the water in Red Hook.

The Franks call it "an artist residency for chefs." The rest of us can just call it RES.

Here's the deal: RES gives visiting chefs a temporary home base to hone their craft and serve it to the discerning likes of you. So it's an endlessly changing menu of amazing food curated by two of Brooklyn's finest chefs.

Until the visiting-chef program is in full swing, each weekend this month Prime Meats brings its prime meats to RES's outdoor garden — including hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats — plus tiki cocktails and keg beer.

And every couple Sundays through early September, it's Le Goûter, a six-hour tacos-and-live music party.

That's the kind of artist residency we can get behind.
