This Week

Full_motorinonyc2013

Depending on your side of the political fence, some great things came out of SCOTUS last week, as well as some not so great things.

One thing we can all agree upon, however, is that exploding Disney heroines are a very good thing for everyone.

  • It's Baaaack: Motorino Open now

When Mathieu Palombino's Brooklyn-side pizza spot closed a while back, cries were heard all over Williamsburg. But now it's back with Brussels sprout-topped pies and porchetta-stuffed calzones.

139 Broadway (Bedford Ave.), Williamsburg (718-599-8899)

  • Critical Mass: Stocked Open now

This casual sit-down or take-out spot does sandwiches (house-made coppa, broccoli rabe, provolone), fresh salads and sides, and larger to-go options like stuffed pork loin and rotisserie chicken.

635 Vanderbilt Ave. (St. Mark's Ave.), Prospect Heights (929-234-6554)

  • Roll With It: Sushi Dojo Open now

This East Village sushi den from Chef David Bouhadana serves a nicely priced omakase menu — which is really what you should come here for — plus a nice assortment of tempura shrimp and fried flounder à la carte.

    110 1st Ave. (E. 7th St.), East Village (646-692-9398)

  • Off to the Races: Pinch Open now

Somehow, some way, world-class Chef Alain Ducasse decided to open a huge restaurant at the Empire City Casino at Yonkers Racetrack, serving up pub grub (short rib tacos, pork belly-topped burger) and shellfish towers for the high rollers, naturally.

    810 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers (914-457-2541)

  • Bam Bam Bam! Dinosaur BBQ Open now

This Harlem favorite has now come to the sunny shores of Gowanus, giving nearby BBQ spots a case of the competitive meat sweats with their pit-smoked ribs and wings.

    604 Union St. (3rd Ave.), Gowanus (347-429-7030)
