This Week

We don't normally get political, but listen up: Quit the bitchin' about Citi Bike already. There are other things that are far, far more important.

  • Gastro-Burg: The Grand Bar & Grill Open now

This new joint follows the current trend of American haute-pub fare, with chicken liver mousse and pickled veggies, Anson Mills polenta, and grilled leek-and-goat-cheese sandwiches, which is right nice for the neighborhood.

647 Grand St. (Manhattan Ave.), Williamsburg (718-782-4726)

  • Stell-ahh! Estela Opens Tue

The former Isa chef Ignacio Mattos plays culinary wizard in the kitchen at this tapas-esque spot that serves calamari à la plancha with romesco, and a hangar steak just barely kissed with fish sauce for an umami boost.

47 E. Houston St. (Mulberry St.), Nolita (212-219-7693)

  • Vintage Plates: Old School Brooklyn Open now

This Italian comfort food joint from the people behind Cacio e Pepe quietly opened last month, serving a selection of red sauce plates like Nonna used to make, plus duck and veal meatballs.

520 Court St. (Huntington St.), Carroll Gardens (718-407-0047)

  • R. Mutt's Menu: Sel Rrose Open now

Named after Marcel Duchamp's female alter-ego, this oyster bar also features cocktails inspired by Duchamp's readymade perfume, including the Belle Haleine (gin, Byrrh, vanilla bean, vermouth, and champagne).

    1 Delancey St. (Bowery), Bowery

  • Not Exactly a Diet Joint: Fatburger Open now

Don't come here expecting anything but an over-the-top menu, which just happens to include an XXXL burger with three patties and clocks in at 2050 calories. There's also a turkey burger for you wusses out there.

    507 Third Ave. (E. 34th St.), Murray Hill (212-904-1293)
