It's not every day you can say, "After work, let's pop down to Tribeca and crush a few pints of mead."
But that's what's going down at Distilled, a slight misnomer that can be easily forgiven for helping your Game of Thrones withdrawal.
Instead of a spirits factory, it's an old-school public house — if the public houses of old served mead and moonshine-and-champagne cocktails, that is. You know, the good stuff.
With a Momofuku vet in the kitchen, Distilled serves up a slammin' array of drinking food: wings slathered with Korean chili sauce and a side of Point Reyes blue cheese sauce, charred broccoli with duck bacon, and liver pate with crispy crackers made of chicken skin.
And they'll give you gratis popcorn — dusted with cumin, garlic, and brewer's yeast, which gives it a cheesy kick — just for stopping in.
For the mains, you've got the very difficult task of choosing between country-fried duck & waffles and 24-hour slow-cooked pork ribs.
Mull it over between rounds of that moonshine concoction, or a Derby Shrub (pictured) with chamomile rye, apricot shrub, and mint.
And once again: They have mead. Mead, for God's sake. Where's Tyrion Lannister when you need him?
