Learning that the dino sounds in Jurassic Park are just turtles gettin' some shell certainly made last week's date... interesting.

  • Movin' On Up: Franny's Open now

The beloved Park Slope spot has crossed the road and opened in a bigger, brighter space (pictured), still putting out crostini, wood-roasted pork sausage, and amazing pies topped with the likes of prosciutto cotto, olives, chilies and caciocavallo.

348 Flatbush Ave. (Sterling Pl.), Park Slope (718-230-0221)

  • Our Kind of Chemistry: Alchemy, Texas Open now

The former Ranger Texas Barbecue has been transmogrified into a golden smoke spot that serves everything from goat ribs to lamb belly to frogs' legs, plus the standard chicken, pork, and brisket.

    71-04 35th Ave. (71st St.), Jackson Heights (718-899-9553)

  • Beyond the Sea: Melibea Open now

The owner of next-door Barraca does for Mediterranean fare what his first joint did for tapas, with an eclectic mix including baba ghanoush, pork head terrine, egg yolk raviolini, and lamb tagine.

2 Bank St. (Greenwich Ave.), Greenwich Village (212-463-0090)

  • Argentine Beat: Luna Sur Latin Bistro Open now

This pan-Latin spot serves up the best of the southerly Americas, including Cuban suckling pig, Peruvian arroz con mariscos, and Argentine skirt steak smothered with chimichurri.

  • Why Not Four? Tres Carnes Open now

This grab-and-go spot offers Mexican fare by way of smoky Texas, including smoked pork shoulder in burritos, tacos, or bowls, and sides of roasted chipotle squash, bacon-and-chorizo beans, and beer cocktails.

    688 6th Ave. (22nd St.), Chelsea (212-989-8737)
