This Week

Well, we can think of a few things we'd rather do than canoe up the polluted a$$crack of Brooklyn known as the Gowanus Canal. But only a few.

  • Welcome to the 'Hood: Dos Toros Taqueria Open now

One of the city's best grab-and-go burrito spots finally lands in Williamsburg, bringing its short but sweet menu of carnitas, pollo asado, and carne asada in and out of tortillas (pictured).

    189 Bedford Ave. (N. 6th St.), Williamsburg (718-384-8833)

  • Welcome Back to the 'Hood: Fatty 'Cue Opens Tue

After forcing Brooklynites to head into Manhattan for some of his delicious South Asian 'cue, Zak Pelaccio and his crew have reopened their Brooklyn spot with a shinier interior and revamped menu.

    91 S. 6th St. (Berry St.), Williamsburg (718-599-3090)

  • Snailin' It: Greenwich Project Open now

This is the third installment in the Vinatta and Mulberry Project, a two-floor restaurant in a townhouse serving sweetbreads with snails and bacon, and lobster-roe pasta with crayfish and ramps.

    47 W. 8th St. (6th Ave.), West Village (212-253-9335)

  • Sicily Sister: Piccola Cucina Osteria Open now

SoHo's Piccola Cucina Enoteca gets a new sibling down the block serving even more Sicilain fare, including swordfish wrapped around buffalo mozzarella, eggplant caponata, and the delectably gooey dessert known as cassata cake.

196 Spring St. (Sullivan St.), SoHo (646-478-7488)

  • Hello, Hummus: Local 92 Open now

This new Israeli joint offers halloumi-topped shakshuka (poached eggs in tomato sauce), falafel-crusted salmon, and nine kinds of hummus in hearty portions.

    92 2nd Ave. (E. 6th St.), East Village (212-432-2232)
