Jingle Bell, Rock

Your road map to December's best shows

We love Christmas music, too.

But after the 1,000th times in two weeks hearing "I saw Momma Kissing Santa Claus" a cappella, we're ready for something a little harder.

Here's where to rock in December, as we count down to Santa's big night.

Sweet Home: Alabama Shakes
If Janis Joplin had a baby with Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill, they might produce the lead singer of this dope band. With her soulful, rough-and-smooth-all-at-the-same-time voice, the Shakes are an homage to the ‘60s in not giving a flying eff that they were the hot new thing at the Grammys last year.
Wed Dec 4 8p. The Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach (305-673-7300). $36 to $45.

Friday the 13th: Misfits Preshow
Before punk legends Misfits hit the stage at Grand Central, gather for the unluckiest day of the year with the area’s darkest bands. The all-girl cover band The Ms. Fitts (above) will perform for the last time, as well as fan favorites Riot Agents, The Toilets, and Angry Pudding.
Fri Dec 13 9p-3a. Churchill’s Pub, 5501 NE Second Ave., Miami (305-757-1807). $7 (or $5 if wearing Misfits gear).

Dancing Queens: Winter Music Box
What’s better than a burlesque show set to house music? We couldn’t come up with anything either. Lila Starlet and Aurora Natrix are the stars of this winter extravaganza, performing to the sounds of Delux Noise as they make their musical debut. DJ Dino and DJ Doctor Sprock will also take a spin at the turntables, all while music videos and trippy projections blow your mind.
Sat Dec 28 10:30p. PAX Miami, 337 SW Eighth St., Miami (305-640-5847). Free.
