Yes, shorter is better.

The Miami Short Film Festival comes to town this Friday for one week only. With a huge variety of 30 minutes-or-fewer flicks under a wide array of categories (think: sex, crime, fantasy), the toughest part is choosing what to see.

Grab a big popcorn for the little flicks below, and enjoy your time with a tinier version of Tinseltown.

The Other Side of the World
Check out the 12-minute skit Honk If You’re Horny to experience a wacky cabbie creepster who holds a guy hostage to tell some ridiculous raunchy tale. Then take a trip to an odd unknown Tim Burton-based world in Woody, where a freaky animated wooden doll is your guide.
Mon Nov 11 6:30-8p. Paragon Grove 13, 3015 Grand Ave., #322, Coconut Grove (305-446-6843). $12 here

Miami’s Filmmakers
This might be the best category in the whole show, with Deathguard focusing on a crazed murderous lifeguard on the loose, Right To Wynwood weighing in on the future of the city’s art district, and A Hawk Once Told Me showing us you need to be friends with a bird in order to fly.
Sun Nov 10 6:30-9p. Paragon Grove 13, 3015 Grand Ave., #322, Coconut Grove (305-446-6843). $12 here.

Endings & Beginnings
Ghosts get it on while bombs go off in Boundaries: The End. Mental patients lust after one another in The Redwoods. And freaky evil beings lurk in the shadows in The Pallor.
Wed Nov 13 6:30-8p. Paragon Grove 13, 3015 Grand Ave., #322, Coconut Grove (305-446-6843). $12 here.
