Food Trotter

Traveling through Tapas Journey, Wynwood's finest food scene

Bar hopping might be great, but restaurant hopping is disaster.

Lucky for you, there's a novel way to avoid the food coma, heartburn and eater's remorse that accompanies binging at back-to-back restaurants. Behold, the small plate wonder of tapas.

Through October 6, Wynwood Tapas Journey is your passport to 10 participating restos, serving 3 tapas alongside Estrella Damm brew, for just $20 each.

From shrimp & grits to pierogies, we've mapped the top three joints in your plan of attack. The rest are up to you.

Pride & Joy BBQ
Chef Michael Castino puts a Southern twist on the Spanish-inspired small plates inside his smoky, Johnny Cash-jukebox-belting BBQ joint. From the fried spicy lemon ranch heirloom tomatoes to locally-made lamb sausage and hickory-smoked duck confit, it might be hard not to fill up right then and there.

Wynwood Kitchen & Bar
This art-splashed staple is going Hispanic Southern starting with Chef Miguel Aguilar’s fried plantains topped with crema and queso blanco. They're the perfect primer for empanadas stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with cilantro crema. Then there's classic shrimp with white cheddar grits. And then maybe seconds on those fried plaintains...?

The Butcher Shop Beer Garden & Grill
This Wynwood newbie is drawing in the local carnivores with Chef Dustin Ward’s prime meat selections and sick outdoor patio. Keep that Estrella Damm close by to chase the homemade spicy chorizo and Mongolian chicken wings before diving right into the pan-seared Eastern European-inspired pierogies.

Wynwood Tapas Journey
Now through Sunday, October 6

Cost: $20 for 3 tapas and 1 Estrella Damm per restaurant
