Miami and the Jersey Shore might be the capitals of fist pumping, but the underground rock scene in the 305 has plenty of opportunities to jam out in less hair-gelled fashion.

Get your rock music fix with the three top live music acts July has to offer.

Californication: Surf Punk Party
Surf punk guitarist Laramie Dean returns to his hometown after moving out west to the City of Angels, leading up a gang of raucous bangers including Jimmy Dale on drums (son of guitar king Dick Dale). The night will be a mashup of old-school surfer rock and punky tunes with bands Pool Party, Skinny Jimmy & the Stingrays, Hardship Anchors, Sandrats, and DJ Skidmark.
Fri July 19 8p. Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE Second Ave., Little Haiti (305-757-1807). $10.

Chrome: A Tribute to Type O Negative
As a hat tip to the late Peter Steele of Type O Negative, three Goth metal bands are descending on west Broward to honor the late shredder. The vampiric Shadow Reborn, heavy metalists 1,000 Pounds of Thrust, and industrial rockers Half Head and the Anti-Creeps will whip their hair onstage like the insatiable freaks they are.
Sat July 20 9p. Archie’s West, 6303 W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac (954-721-0020). No cover.

Chillax: Writesounds and Dinosaurs ‘n Disasters
Kick back with two bands that have made the circuit through Miami by mixing up traditional rock sounds with their own spices. Writesound’s seven-piece sound orgy brings together chill beats mixed with funk, while Dinosaurs ‘n Disasters hit the stage with rap verses woven through impressively unique rock and violin melodies.
Sat July 27 11p. Bougainvilleas, 7221 SW 58th Ave., South Miami (305-669-8577). No cover.
