Celebrate National Hot Dog Month at Tobacco Road

Full_dog

In May, you paid homage to the burger.

In early July, you celebrated American independence.

From here on out, it's National Hot Dog Month, and there's no better way to celebrate than by hitting up Hot Dog Fest at Tobacco Road.

Craft beer specials and live rock tunes take over this dingy dive bar, while local food trucks battle for the title of Top Dog.

Last year, we got our hands on Daddy’s Grill's Big Papo sausage sandwich along with Dog Eat Dog’s Venezuelan dog with garlic mayo and parmesan cheese

This year, Cheeseburger Baby, Jefe's, and Food Junkies create their own masterpieces along with the Sausage Queen herself, Babe Froman, roasting up the sweet Italian “Lucy” with garlic and basil, bratwurst with nutmeg, and Chorizo 305 with smoked paprika.

Expect ample dessert options here too: crispy churros from Churro Mania and freshly-made chocolate peanut butter pies from Fireman Derek’s World Famous Pies.

But let's not forget about the 2nd annual hot dog eating contest — the real entertainment of the afternoon. Have your pick of sitting along the sidelines or taking part in the messy mayhem by signing up here.

Reminder: you have five days to train.
