Film School

Screen Indie Film Club’s local movie competition at O Cinema

Summer goes with movies like phone conversations go with the NSA.

But instead of watching a typical blockbuster in a stereotypical movie theater, get interactive at the I'm Not Gonna Move to LA indie film series at O Cinema.

Known as the city's artsy independent movie refuge with comic book character charades and Harry’s Pizza's OMG Dinner and a Movie spectacles, the theater offers this monthly event giving us East Coasters a bit of the West Coast film scene — Wynwood-style.

Grab a couch in the front row and get ready to interact with those on stage (especially the hand-selected local comedian of the evening) when they shoot out movie trivia questions for prizes including truffle burgers from Purple People Eatery.

Five local short films then battle it out, leaving the audience in charge of awarding one filmmaker with the $1,000 grand prize and coast-to-coast bragging rights.

And before leaving, be sure to scribble something on their Talk-Back Wall near the old-school popcorn machine.

It won't be shared with the Feds, but anything goes with Instagram.
