Storm Chaser

Steer clear of hurricane season in Curacao

From what we’re hearing, this hurricane season ain’t gonna be pretty, with predictions of three to six monster cyclones heading this way.

Plan your evacuation early by heading to the Lions Dive & Beach Resort in Curacao, sitting safely right outside of the Hurricane Belt.

At this renowned dive resort and sports enthusiast cove, you can spend most of your time swimming with the big fish at the National Underwater Park without any massive squalls ruining your nature buzz.

The 50-meter pool is also impressive -- a few professional teams have trained within these very lanes — but staying on land isn't lame either, especially when you're coasting along the curvy, dirt-driven track crossed by the official 2008 World Cup mountain bikers.

Offsite, there’s the brand new safari tour at Yellow Jeep Safaris offering entrance to secluded island beaches that can only be reached by one of these heavy off-roading monsters.

Hit up the Curaçao Beach Boulevard too, a street full of live entertainment, fresh seafood, and thirst-quenching watering holes including the essential oceanfront restaurant/lounge, Mambo Beach Club.

Sure beats waiting it out in an evacuation center.
