Mum's the Word

Our top three Mother's Day ideas

Paper roses and scribbled makeshift cards might have gotten you by in the past, but these days Mom's expecting more.

Sea Queen: Mother's Day Cruise
She nurtured your dreams of becoming a pirate as a kid, so take her out on the open seas for a tour of Biscayne Bay. Climb aboard this fancy yacht for unlimited fresh omelets, a beef carving station, chocolate fountain, and an open bar. Just don't embarrass her with any unpracticed moves on the dance floor.
Sun May 12 11a-1:30p. Bayside Marketplace, 401 Biscayne Blvd., Downtown (305-379-5119; ext. 2001). $65.

Laid-Back Lady: Acqualina's Spa
It’d be a lie to say you didn’t cause a few of those gray hairs on dear Mom’s head. It’s only fair to send her to this beach side resort for a relaxing day where she’s treated with a soothing foot rub, a 50-minute full-body massage, and 50-minute facial right before she's served tea and cookies poolside, with a spa gift basket to take home.
All May. Acqualina Spa by ESPA, 17875 Collins Ave., Sunny Isles Beach (855-750-2740). $295.

Mimosa Mama: Oak Tavern's Brunch
Head to the Design District for this spot's special brunch menu that starts by greeting all moms with a free glass of sparkling wine. Sit outside under the shady Oak tree that gave this space its name while trying the shrimp and grits with a slap of maple bacon, coconut-crusted French toast with maple whipped cream, or the Middle Eastern “shakshuka” wood-oven baked egg dish with tomato, sheep’s milk feta, and grilled bread.
Sun May 12 10:30a-2:30p. Oak Tavern, 35 NE 40th St., Design District (786-391-1818). Served a la carte.
