When we think of poetry, a boring sonnet recited by some old English dude might come to mind. Not exactly Drake.
Thankfully, the O, Miami Poetry Festival has us changing our views on haikus.
That's because boozy line twisters and gritty rock make up most of the rhythmic debauchery that's found on anything from beer coasters to the "Poets That Rock!" party at Churchill’s Pub.
It's not like you remember in English class. Inside the dive hangout, Rat Bastard and Kenny Millions take to the stage to recite wacky, offbeat verses in front of a trippy special effect backdrop.
The YouTube-esque “Hello Poetry Lovers and Degenerates” is a multimedia big-screen presentation, featuring web poets ripping into corrupted rhymes.
And while some words are meant to be written on paper, make sure you don't get the words “Cheeseburger Baby” inked on your arm at the Animal Spirits show, which features live tattooing, cocktails, and poems about food.
We're pretty sure you might regret that one later.
