The bad news: Football season is over.
The good news: Beer drinking season is about to go into overtime.
So put away the shoulder pads and belly up to the bar at downtown's new tasting room and Fremont Street’s first brewery: Banger Brewing.
Created by five local childhood friends who used to bus tables at the Bellagio, they’ve taken their onetime homebrewing operation to the first floor of Neonopolis (where you’ll recognize it by the giant grain silo out front).
Inside you’ll find everything you’d expect from a brewery taproom: a long bar, plenty of stainless steel, and an open window into the brewing operations where free tours go down daily (or, more accurately, nightly) from 8-10p.
On tap you’ll find Banger’s collection of award-winning ales including Simply Stout tinged with flavors of roasted coffee and rich caramel, as well as more experimental offerings such as El Heffe jalapeño hefeweizen.
Besides Vegas-made brews, they’re also supporting Vegas-made bands with free weekly performances on Thursday night featuring local acts Jinxy Bear, The All Togethers, and Shayna Rain & the Union.
It ain’t the Super Bowl halftime show, but it’ll do just fine.
