Book your next trip for the last weekend of April, as two of the most highly anticipated club openings of the year are going down back-to-back.
Hakkasan Restaurant & Nightclub at MGM Grand
This massive five-level tribute to Far East opulence sprawls out over 80,000 square feet of the old Studio 54 space, which means room for 7,000 or so of your friends.
International superstar Tiësto will join resident DJs deadmau5, Calvin Harris, and Steve Aoki — the last of whom will unveil his crazy new Neon Future party concept at the club, which has additional global outposts from Miami to Mumbai.
The menu has yet to be released, but expect stir-fried black pepper ribeye beef with merlot, and silver cod with champagne and Chinese honey among other modern Cantonese classics. All of which taste better under neon lights, obviously.
Grand opening weekend Thu-Sun Apr 25-28. 3799 Las Vegas Blvd., The Strip (702-891-1111). More info here.
The Light at Mandalay Bay
Walking into this Cirque du Soleil-partnered nightclub (pictured) will be like entering a 3D interactive acid trip with colorful holograms of jellyfish, sexy dancers, Cirque aerialists, and DJ heads floating above a gyrating crowd.
While not quite at the same level as Hakkasan, Light’s resident DJ lineup is nothing to sneeze at, with A-list knob-twiddlers Skrillex, A-Trak, Alesso, and Sebastian Ingrosso laying down dirty beats for hungry househeads.
Be among the first to see what happens when CNN holograms go off their meds and join the circus, with tickets now on sale for their opening weekend, headlined by Nicky Romero and Axwell.
Opening weekend Fri-Sat Apr 26-27. 3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd, The Strip (702-632-7777). $50-75 here.
