Sip in Secret

Menotti's brings Venice two new ways to get buzzed

Sometimes, to keep going, there's no other way: you just need a double espresso shot.

And sometimes you just need a double shot, period.

Get caffed up, liquored up, or a little of both at Menotti's, Venice's new bartender- and barista-manned joint from the owners of Townhouse.

The coffee shop not only sources beans from San Francisco's Four Barrel Coffee, but its head barista Christopher "Nicely" Abel Alameda is a vet of Handsome Coffee Roasters and Intelligentsia Coffee. So go ahead and make your latte extra fancy, he's had some practice.

Prefer to relax instead? Wind things down at soon-to-open Menotti's Saloon, an intimate, reservation-only classic cocktail den beneath Del Monte Speakeasy accessible only through a secret entrance in the coffee bar.

In the meantime, you can take your cup o' brew to Townhouse for an Irish-style upgrade with a splash of whiskey, Demerara syrup, nutmeg, and a dollop of amaro-infused whipped cream.

You know the old saying: Beer before liquor, never sicker; liquor with joe, you're cool, bro.
