Our pre-summer workout regimen is getting stale.
We were contemplating shaking it up with crossfit, cycling, or broga.
But then we started thinking about bacon-wrapped dates. And custom cocktails.
Now on the third floor of Los Angeles Athletic Club, you’ll find a proper (ladies’ and) gentlemen’s club called Invention. It’s a different kind of room, where you might hear volumes of Faulkner hitting herringbone floors after you slam 75-lb dumbbells on rubber.
There's a well-stocked bookcase flanking a giant flat-screen TV (streaming the Kentucky Derby for their viewing party on May 4th).
There's also a well-stocked mahogany pub-style bar. Go for a Pegu Club, a tangy glassful of gin and juice named after a gentleman’s club in Burma. Then snack on civilized dishes including those aforementioned bacon-wrapped dates, antipasto, or lamb meatballs.
You don’t have to be a club member to enjoy the perks of Invention: Social memberships are $250 to join with $80 per month dues.
Though if you are a LAAC member, it’s free. Plus, you can challenge patrons to tipsy games of squash (courts on the 8th floor).
