So far, the only thing about remotely futuristic about your future might be our fancy smartphones. And we still can't wear them on our wrists (yet).
The only thing that can cure this? The jetpack.
We hope you're sitting down for this, because the Jetlev R200 plans to shoot you 35 mph into the air. This 30-pound jetpack is totally real, totally rentable, and totally attached to a mini-boat housing a 200 HP marine engine.
When the engine pumps 1,000 gallons of water per minute at 60 psi (think fire hose) to the pack, you'll propel 30 feet up faster than most school zones.
Your two-hour flight experience starts with classroom (and by classroom, we mean beach) instruction. You’ll watch a safety video and get in-pack training. Then you don your wetsuit, life vest and helmet, and it’s out on the water.
Though you are sitting on a padded seat and strapped into a five-point safety harness, you’ll feel effortlessly suspended as you zoom weightlessly through the air. Simple arm movements control your direction in three dimensions.
Soon you’ll be walking on water and “submarining” (diving underwater and then soaring back out) before stepping it up to corkscrews, backflips, and no-handed flying while GoPros capture it all on HD video.
Because you'll want every HD pixel for your highlight reel.
