The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words "Deep Throat" is probably not the Watergate whistleblower. And just that fact alone shows how much the adult film industry has penetrated pop culture.
Now, 40 years after it hit theaters and triggered a sexual revolution, the kinky classic inspires a fresh new slice of theater from the pen of David Bertolino, the man behind Boston's year-round Halloween-inspired theme park, Spooky World (really).
The Deep Throat Sex Scandal is a live experience in which adult film director Jerry Douglas directs a cast of comedy and Boogie Nights-style stars that rotates each week -- including Ron Jeremy (just in time for Valentine's Day) -- as they re-enact the real-life scandals surrounding the film.
You'll follow the film's stars Linda Lovelace and Harry Reems on a rocky road of raids, arrests, and courtroom theatrics — all in the name of the First Amendment.
