If the last time you went ziplining was to assassinate a slimy dictator in Splinter Cell, it may be time to drop the PS2 controller for a proper road trip.
Originally from North Carolina, one of the country's most acclaimed zipline operators (yes, they have awards) has come to Southern California at Navitat Canopy Adventures.
Hidden in the old-growth trees of Wrightwood in the San Gabriel Mountains, just under 90 minutes from LA, this just-opened course contains a series of suspended sky-bridges, zip lines, trails, and rappels from 15 to more than 250 feet off the ground.
You'll get literal eagle-eye views of the Mojave as you fly through canyons at up to 50 MPH on sturdy tree-to-tree cables 1,500 feet long.
Small groups (up to eight people per tour) buzz past mountain lions and black bears during the four-hour tour.
Be warned: It's not a spur-of-the-moment adventure. You'll need to book in advance and while you don't have to be a special ops commando, you do need to be in reasonably good physical condition.
You have been off the couch since finishing Splinter Cell, right?
