Sometimes, one finds one's self in Fort Worth. Other times, one finds a reason to drive there above the speed limit.
That reason is dinner at AF+B (American Food & Beverage), the newest concept from the initial-loving restaurant group that just opened CBD Provisions at the Joule Hotel. And OMG, get there ASAP because YOLO, you know.
But enough with all that. Chef Jeff Harris invites you to sit a spell and savor some F&B over conversations with complete sentences.
Start with the grass-fed beef chili topped with cornbread crumbles, pickled jalapeños, sour cream, and a mound of shredded Texas cheddar. Then move on to the flaky duck pot pie and a plate of gulf blue deviled crabs (pictured) and a side of roasted rutabaga.
And if thirst is what takes you to Ft. Worth, a Hell's Half Acre or mezcal margarita will justify your journey.
Just beware: They're strong.
Which, BTW, is why one books a hotel room when driving west for dinner and drinks.
