Movies 101

Catch 100 classic films over the course of 2014

It's a new year. Time to bone up on your movie cred.

Introducing Alamo 100, a list of essential movie favorites chosen by the cinema gurus over at Alamo Drafthouse. Unlike other lists, this one's actionable because you'll be able to see them all on the big screen.

While drinking big beers. And eating big burgers.

It's a wonderfully varied selection, from Pulp Fiction and The Empires Strikes Back to Tommy Boy and Uncle Buck, with a few silent movies and foreign films thrown in for good measure. (They screened Raging Bull already, so Netflix it to complete your education in the classics.)

By the end of the year, you'll be a wealth of movie quotes and pop culture references, both fundamental tools in carrying on a first-date conversation.

And solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles when you visit your grandparents.
