James Perse opens in Highland Park Village

289.3 miles. That's the distance from Dallas to the nearest ocean.

But capturing the Malibu surf lifestyle is just around the corner in Highland Park Village.

That's where the first James Perse store in Texas opens Thursday, carrying the full seasonal collections of his Southern California-inspired menswear, furniture, and bicycles.

The designer grew up splitting time between the beach, the hockey rink, and his dad's clothing boutique. Today, he combines everything he learned into his stylish but comfortable product lines.

Whether you're looking for sweaters, fleece, hoodies, or a new king-size bed, everything has a relaxed Cali vibe.

Especially the surfboards.

Which, for Texans, might also be called "wall art."
