Warren Buffet

Dallas' epic uptown-downtown park turns one

Full_klydewarrenpark

If every 1-year-old's birthday party had food trucks selling beer and wine, we'd be more likely to RSVP.

Thankfully, there's one celebration of 365 days on earth that has all that and a whole lot more.

This weekend, Klyde Warren Park marks its first anniversary with a non-stop, all-you-can-experience buffet of activities.

Highlights include the Decks in the Park live DJ set on Thursday; a simulcast of Carmen from the Dallas Opera on Friday (remember, there will be beer); Saturday afternoon architecture tours of downtown; and something called a drum-along on Sunday.

If the drum-along is
half as synchronized as these kids, we're all in.

Every event is free and there are things to do all day long the entire weekend. Just block out some time to hang on the fire-pit-filled patio of the newly opened
Savor for an up-close view of every live performance.

But fair warning: unlike at other birthday fiestas, you'll need to bring your own piñata.
