It's a fairly well-documented fact that exercise makes you hungry. And thirsty.
Yet conventional wisdom dictates that eating and drinking should be done after a hard workout (that includes Brogurt, bro).
But leave it to the fine folks from Addison to challenge cramps and heartburn with the very first Tasty 5K, part of the weekend-long Taste Addison 2013, one of North Texas' most popular food fests.
Along the route, runners feast from five tasting stations, including Teriyaki chicken and rice from Genghis Grill, chocolate croissants from La Madeleine, cookies from Tiff's Treats, fresh-squeezed lemonade from Raising Cane's, plus tacos, brisket burritos and sopaipillas from On the Border.
And that's just the beginning. The after-party includes more nourishment from the restaurants above, but also Buffalo Wild Wings, smoothies from Greenz, and sweets from Polk-a-dot Bakery.
Next, 5Kers can exchange their race day bibs for free admission to the main event itself. Because the best way to end a day of eating and running is more eating. And maybe a few rides on the Tilt-A-Whirl.
On second thought, scratch that last idea.
